I immediately fell in love with photography after getting my first camera as a Christmas gift while still in high school. Looking back at those first few years, I drifted to people and nature photography - a tendency that never stopped. When I reached college I minored in photography getting experience with Black & White, large format and differnt sytles of photography. I shoot for the Revelle yearbook and was Lead Photographer for a year. The first wedding I shot was a favor for friends from school. This simple start has lead to 2 decades of wedding, party, and special event experience

As an active diver since 1979, I have logged over 1850 dives. During my time at UCSD, while obtaining a BS in physics, I took every SCUBA class that was offered and was an active diver and club officer with the UCSD Scuba Club. I became a Dive-Master in 1986. Natural progression led me to become an instructor with SSI - Scuba Schools International in 1989 and with PADI - Professional Association of Diving Instructors in 1998. I continue to be an active part time instructor through UCSD, having certified numerous students including my wife to be.

I joined the San Diego Underwater Photographic Society in the mid 1980's as a means to borrow the club's cameras to take underwater pictures. Since then, I have received numerous photographic awards at the Pacific Coast Underwater Photographic Competition and the California Beach Dive Photo Competition. These include:

Best of Show in 1992
Best of Diver in 1992
Best of Macro in 1994 and 1996
And 24 other awards during 9 years of competition.

I have been published in the San Diego based dive magazine "Discover Diving". Telling the story of my underwater engagement while on vacation at the Namale resort, on the Fijian Island of Vanua Levu.

I have had the occasion to travel and dive in such exotic locations as Indonesia, Japan, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Bahamas, Baja Mexico and Hawaii as well as most of the California coast, and the Channel Islands. These opportunities have given me the chance to swim with Hammerheads, White Tip, and Leopard sharks, Manta rays, Sea snakes, Turtles, and observe 1000's of mating squid.
